What is The Response?
It’s a fusion dance event with a special focus on the skill of following, applied to both leading and following. 💃🕺
❓ Why?
The Response was created because:
1️⃣ Experienced followers excel at leading:
- Most followers with experience can quickly become competent leaders, while leaders often struggle to learn following.
- Experienced followers often have a comfortable and responsive lead, which followers love! 💕
- This shows that following is crucial for all dancers, as it unlocks adaptability, balance, and co-creation. 🌟
2️⃣ A teaching gap exists:
- Most dance classes are taught from a leading perspective, with instructions geared toward leads.
- Very little attention is given to teaching followers.
🎯 Therefore, The Response aims to:
- Teach both leaders and followers the skill of following.
- Create a learning environment specifically designed to teach following.
🎓 How will it work?
The Response will be structured like most dance events:
Parties on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. 🎉
Classes on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. 🕑
💡 Teachers:
All teachers are experienced followers with excellent pedagogy, ready to re-invent how dance is taught.

1️⃣ Incorporating Following into Leading:
Perfect for experienced followers learning to lead. Perfect for experienced leaders with limited follow experience.
The track every follower secretly wants their leader to take! 😉
Goal: Create a more comfortable and responsive connection.
2️⃣ Intermediate Following:
For those with some following experience who want to improve.
Learn to find your voice as a follower. 🎶
3️⃣ Advanced Following:
For highly experienced followers to refine technique.
Explore different ways of following and expand your options. 🌈

The Response will be a cosy event held in venues in Lyon, all within a 10-minute walk. 🚶♀️🚶♂️
Brunches and dinners included 🥞🍲: Share meals with new and old friends. We are here to celebrate and appreciate our followers. 💖
